George Byrd: Rampaging

Big ups to VCU for an amazing run to the Final Four. Here’s hoping they make history in Houston. VCU alumni and former basketball star is none other than Big George Byrd of the Hombres. Big ups are a Big Byrd specialty and are on display in the highlight below. If you watch closely, you can see the play develop. The Hombres swing the ball to the left side of the court and empty the right side of the court by cutting the gunners through to the ball side. The defense follows the gunners through the springs and realize too late that they’ve left the right side of the court wide open to the rampaging Byrd, who gets a free run at the springs full speed…an opposing stopper’s worst nightmare. Comment below.

  1. Mob Follow-Through Play

Brilliant half court execution from the Mob players and head coach Brendan Kirsch, trailing not one but two cutters through the springs to get the stopper out of position. Notice the first cutter bounces all the way through to the bottom tramp and the second cutter stops short on the...
  2. Cheese is Clutch

Philly streetball legend, Cheese Meyers shows clutch guts and range letting the quick release fly against the halftime buzzer. Cheese is a freakishly talented athlete and an undersized gunner who competes with heart and gritty play. Little known fact, facebook featured the “Cheese Meyers Appreciation Society” and his beard has...
  3. Bouncers Dominate

Chris “Ghetto Bird” Young steals the ball away from the Diablos and launches from the tramps to pick up a slam. The Diablos try to answer, but Rob Wilson gets up and blocks Matrice Moore at the rim. Wilson gets the ball and passes it out to Gerrie Herring on...
  4. Rodney Bond Do It All

Rodney Bond is best known for being the Stopper on the Bouncers. It is tough to play SlamBall with three offensive players against four defensive players so Bond steps up the court from time to time and boy can he slam the ball. After the dunk he hustles back to...
